Child Dental Health Initiative
by praxe2apHe2eSwaWe were shortlisted for the 2013 Private Dentistry Awards in the Best Child Dental Health Initiative category for our work with children within the practice and the wider community. Whilst we didn’t win we were thrilled to have been nominated and to have our services to Children’s Dentistry recognised in this prestigious way. Click here to see our entry – please take a look at some of the things we get up to.
We are committed to oral health education and we have an on-going oral health promotion. Come in and see our display board in the family waiting room – our team take pride in updating it regularly. Themes so far have included “Healthy eating for healthy teeth” with goodie bags for the kids and “Erosion” – highlighting the damaging effects of acidic foods and drinks on teeth. Dental disease is largely preventable – we have a commitment to on-going prevention.
Our Start Right Smiles informal play sessions held on Fridays 2-3 pm gives the youngest children a great introduction to going to the dentist in a fun and relaxed way enabling parents and carers to receive dental and prevention advice for all babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers. This is a free session open to all pre-school children. More info…
As part of our ongoing commitment to Oral Health Promotion within the local community one of dentists, Carrie Preston, regularly visits local primary schools and nurseries to raise children’s awareness of being responsible for looking after their teeth properly. If you know of a group or class that would like to take this opportunity then please contact Carrie to arrange.
