New Patients’ Information
by Carrie PrestonWe want you to be entirely satisfied with your care and treatment at Shipston Dental Practice and we work hard to make your experience at the practice as pleasant as possible. When making your first appointment if you have particular requirements please let us know in advance. Our reception area, one of our surgeries and our cloakroom, with baby change facility, are accessible to wheelchairs users and those with restricted mobility. We have a further three surgeries upstairs.
We ask that a medical history, including naming any medications taken, is completed prior to your first appointment to ensure that any treatment is carried out safely for you. At your first appointment we take the time to discuss with you previous dental treatment and your future hopes and expectations. We carry out a thorough examination of your teeth, gums and soft tissues of the mouth to start the treatment planning process. Where required relief of dental pain is obviously given as a priority at this appointment.
Radiographs (x-rays) will be taken where clinically required to enable a complete examination and to assist treatment planning. However if your previous dentist has taken films in the recent past we endeavour to obtain these on your behalf – it can be useful to bring the dentist’s details to the first appointment.
At the earliest stage possible we discuss the nature and costs of treatment involved with this confirmed in writing. The fee for the inital consultation is payable at your first appointment. For your convenience we accept cash, cheque and most major debit and credit cards. We also offer you the opportunity to budget monthly for the cost of your routine dental care with our Dental Care Plan in partnership with Practice Plan Limited.
Children are very welcome as patients of Shipston Dental Practice – we are determined that even our youngest patients are looked after exceptionally well and have developed an individual service, including a free play session for all pre-schoolers. Click here to find out about our Special Kids’ Service Tooth decay can and does start as soon as teeth appear – the good news is that it is totally preventable. We ask that a person with legal parental responsibility for the child completes a Medical History form and attends with a child under 16. Denplan’s inclusive Plans for Children are provided by Carrie Preston to help parents budget for the cost of quality dental care.
Our team of Dental Hygienist/Therapists help both adults and children gain and retain healthy teeth and gums. In addition to treating and preventing gum disease in adults they are also assisting with our prevention strategies for children.
Our receptionists are friendly, highly experienced and knowledgeable. They are willing to answer queries and help in any way they can. Come and visit us or telephone 01608 661551.
We welcome any comments and suggestions on the practice facilities and the service we provide in order to maintain a high quality practice. Many of our new patients come to us via personal recommendation and we encourage you to tell your friends if you are happy with our clinical skill and customer service.
If anything about a visit to the practice did not meet your expectations please let us know – we cannot continue to improve our service without feedback.
If you are not able to keep your appointment please give us at least 24 hours’ notice so that the appointment may be reallocated. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given or an appointment is missed then a charge may be made in order to cover practice overheads.
